Dr. Jerry Barker

Dr Barker is a world recognised expert in Advanced Lithium Batteries. He holds over 80 patents and is the inventor of Hybrid-ion technology, Surface-stabilised Mn-spinel materials for Li-ion batteries and the first symmetrical Li-ion battery, amongst other inventions and achievements pertaining to lithium battery technology.
He has held senior roles at commercial organisations including British Petroleum Research Centre, where he studied the fabrication, characterisation and commercial application of electronically conducting polymers; British Petroleum Solar, where he co-ordinated development of low-cost thin-film photovoltaics technology; and Valence Technology Inc., directing research into advanced electroactive materials for next-generation lithium-ion batteries.
Through his work, Dr Barker has become world-recognised as a pioneer of phosphate materials for lithium-ion batteries.
He is currently working in an independent consultant capacity in the advancement of next generation batteries, energy storage and photovoltaic technologies.
